MANILA, Philippines--The Philippine boxing team won't go 10-for-10 on Monday after Irish Magno lost to Vietnam's Thi Tam Nguyen in the women's flyweight finals in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Later in the day, fellow Filipina Riza Pasuit also settled for a silver after dropping a close split decision to Thailand's Sudaporn Seesondee in their women's lightweight final.

Magno struggled to land clean punches against her taller, rangier opponent, and Nguyen wound up taking a majority decision.

"Sa first round medyo nahirapan ako kasi sobrang tangkad niya," acknowledged Magno.

This is the second time that Magno had lost to Nguyen; they previously met in the 2018 Thailand Open.

Meanwhile, Pasuit struggled to land clean shots against Seesondee, and an aggressive effort in the third round was not enough to win her the bout.
