MANILA, Philippines — Gary David saw his playing days extended after signing a one-year contract with Mahindra on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old David, whose contract wasn't renewed by San Miguel Beer, will make his debut for the Floodbuster on Wednesday when the team goes up against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

"We may test him out tomorrow for a short period of time," Mahindra coach Chris Gavina said in a report poste on Spin.

"But his experience and his ability to be a deadly knockdown shooter gives us a tremendous boost in our perimeter shooting."

The Best Player of the Conference in the 2012 Philippine Cup and five-time PBA All-Star started training with the Floodbuster on Monday.

Mahindra is in need of quality players, particularly scorers, especially after getting badly outscored by GlobalPort during its first game.

Mahindra also signed slam dunk king Rey Guevarra to further perk up their offense.

Gavina acknowledged that his team will be facing an uphill battle against Rain or Shine, which routed TNT KaTropa, 101-87, last week.

"It's a big character test for all of our new and young players in regards to how they respond to adversity," he said. "We addressed our lack of defensive cohesion from our first game and our timid-ness on the defensive end.

"I'll be looking to deploy the players who show the best chemistry and effort on both ends of the floor."
