MANILA, Philippines – Arellano University stunned last season's second-placer Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-21, 25-22, 25-13, on Wednesday to force a three-way tie for first place in the NCAA Season 92 men's volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

Arellano is now tied with Mapua Institute of Technology and San Beda College at the top of the league standings.

Skipper Bernasid Latip and John Joseph Cabillan had 11 points each to power the Chiefs to their second win in a row.

"We still have a lot of things to work on, including our defense, but we're getting there," Arellano coach Sherwin Meneses said.

The Chiefs are looking to reach the Final 4 this year after missing the cut a season ago. Arellano was tied for fourth place with San Beda in Season 91, only to lose to the Red Lions in a knockout playoff. They are hoping that things will be different this year.

"That's our goal, to make it to the Final 4," said Meneses.

The Generals, the champions in the 2014-15 season and runner-up to University of Perpetual Help last year, lost their second straight game.

In the women's division, Arellano also booked an impressive win over the Lady Altas, 25-14, 25-11, 25-19.

It was the Lady Chiefs' first win after losing in five sets to San Sebastian College last week.

Jovelyn Grace Prado led Arellano with 12 points, eight of which came on kills along with four service aces.
