MANILA, Philippines – Another UAAP coaching position has just opened up after Derrick Pumaren resigned from his post at the University of the East.

ABS-CBN Sports reported that "Manong Derrick" is set to leave the Red Warriors, a team that he coached for four years.

Pumaren took over UE in 2014, following the exit of Boysie Zamar. That also wound up as his best season as a coach, as the Red Warriors compiled a 9-5 record and just barely missed the Final Four.

They would not experience the same level of success again, though Season 80 turned out to be a renaissance of sorts for both Pumaren and the Red Warriors.

With star forward Alvin Pasaol torching the UAAP with his high-scoring ways, and Pumaren raising eyebrows with his outfits, the Red Warriors became a team to watch again.

Pumaren finished his UE coaching career with a record of 21 wins and 35 losses.
