MANILA, Philippines – Veteran big man Doug Kramer announced his retirement from basketball on Thursday afternoon.

Through his social media accounts, Kramer said he was retiring after a 12-year career in the PBA. Phoenix's game against Blackwater on Friday will be his last.

"I'll explain in depth soon why I'm hanging it up," said Kramer, who maintained that he was not injured.

"I'm healthy as ever," he said. "So blessed to be able to enjoy this game, dating back to 17 years ago, 2002, in Ateneo as a Blue Eagle."

"There's still so much to do. I'm 36 years young and got so much to prove and make an impact outside of basketball."

Kramer was the fifth overall pick in the 2007 PBA Rookie Draft by Air 21. He also had stints in Ginebra, Rain or Shine, Barako Bull, San Miguel and GlobalPort, before finding a home in Phoenix since 2016.
