No player can ever wear No. 9 again for the San Antonio Spurs, as the organization retired the number in honor of point guard Tony Parker on Monday night at the AT&T Center (Tuesday, Manila time).
Parker, who retired before the start of the NBA season, won four championships in 17 seasons with the Spurs. He was part of their "Big 3" along with Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili – both of whom had their numbers retired as well.
The three were reunited at the ceremony, along with head coach Gregg Popovich.
Parker averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in his career. He was a six-time All-Star, a four-time All-NBA selection, and the Finals MVP when the Spurs won the NBA championship in 2007.
