Jared Dillinger knows now isn’t the time to rile Ginebra fans.

Shedding his image as the Barangay’s public enemy No. 1, Dillinger reached out to the newly crowned back-to-back PBA Governors’ Cup champions with a message of praise, not a prank, after Meralco lost Game 7 of the finals 101-96.

After struggling with his shot throughout the series, Dillinger found his touch in Game 7, scoring 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting from 3-point land and helping Meralco battle back from 20 points down to make it a game with less than a minute to go.

He knocked down a 3-pointer with 47 seconds left to narrow the deficit to 4 points, before Ginebra escaped with the victory.

Dillinger’s feud with Ginebra fans was one of the highly anticipated subplots of these finals, but it didn’t become an issue as Dillinger struggled mightily on offense.

He was the subject of memes on social media for his poor play, with Dillinger having nothing to throw at his detractors.

At least now, he can find a measure of consolation after his Game 7 performance, even though his team fell short of its goal.
