MANILA -- After securing an Olympic berth, Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo settled for 10th place in the men's all-around finals in the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuggart, Germany.

Yulo registered a total of 84.048 points on Friday to improve on his 18th place in the qualifying round.

He banked on his prowess in the floor, vault, and parallel bars to barge in the top 10. He, however, scored lower in the pommel horse category with just 12.816.

Russia dominated the event as it captured the gold and silver medals courtesy of Nikita Nagornny and Artur Dalaloyan, respectively.

Nagornny showcased an 88.772-point performance to rake the top spot while Dalaloyan registered 87.165 markers. Completing the podium finishers was Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev.

Yulo became the second Filipino athlete to qualify to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after advancing to the men's all-around finals. He is set to join pole vaulter EJ Obiena in the quadrennial event.
