MANILA, Philippines -- Sisi Rondina and Babylove Barbon of University of Santo Tomas (UST) made history on Sunday by ruling the UAAP Season 81 beach volleyball tournament at the Sands SM By the Bay.

The UST pair clinched their school’s third consecutive women’s beach volleyball title in dominant fashion, as they routed De La Salle University’s Michelle Morente and Tin Tiamzon, 21-7, 21-16, in Game 2 to complete another perfect season.

Rondina and Barbon entered the tournament as overwhelming favorites, and more than lived up to the hype as they did not drop a single set all throughout the season.

UST has won 19 consecutive matches -- a new league record -- dating back from the Season 79 Finals.

The Tigresses inched closer to the title by beating La Salle, 21-12, 21-19, in Game 1 of the best-of-3 series earlier in the day.

Rondina, in her last beach volleyball stint for UST, won MVP honors while Barbon was the Rookie of the Year.

“For you to prove yourself na kaya mo, why not?” said Rondina. “Nag-start ako ng first year parang alam ko sa sarili ko na wala pang napapatunayan kasi ganito lang, maliit lang ako.”

“Pero the time na nananalo kami, puwede pala. Bonus na itong MVP. Ang goal ko lang talaga manalo at makapagbigay para sa UST,” she added.
