MANILA – After missing the first four games due to surgery, former Most Valuable Player Arwind Santos was named the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week, proving that he is gradually getting back to his usual form ahead of the playoffs in the 2016 PBA Governors Cup.

The San Miguel Beerman gave an impressive all-out performance against rivals Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Saturday. Santos registered a conference-high 20 points to go along with nine boards and four blocks to lift Beermen into an 82-75 victory.

The 6-foot-4 former Far Eastern University standout’s breakout game for the season-ending conference also helped SMB, who missed the services of Alex Cabagnot and import Mike Singletary, to clinch a twice-to-beat advantage going to the playoffs of the league, holding a 7-3 win-loss card.

Santos underwent arthroscopic surgery and had to sit out a couple of games.

The lanky forward claimed the citation for the period of September 6-11, defeating Chris Banchero and Calvin Abueva of Alaska, Jayson Castro of Talk N’ Text and rookies Scottie Thompson of Ginebra Gin Kings and Garvo Lanete of NLEX Road Warriors.

San Miguel is looking to retain the Governors Cup title.
