BEIJING—Tunisia finished at the top of Group N in the 2019 FIBA World Cup after holding off Angola, 86-84, at Wukesong Arena here on Sunday night.

Michael Roll had 21 points, Makram Ben Romdhane added 20, and Salah Mejri had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 blocks before fouling out with 61 seconds to play in the game.

Tunisia finished the World Cup with a 3-2 win-loss record, allowing the continental champions to top their classification group and boost their chances of finishing as the best African team in the tournament.

Nigeria, with a 2-2 record in Group M, can still tie Tunisia if it wins against China later tonight.

It was a back-and-forth game all the way through, and Angola seized a 74-71 lead off back-to-back lay-ups by Carlos Morais with 6:15 to play.

But Roll spearheaded a 12-0 run, capped by a Mejri triple that put Tunisia back in control, 83-74, with 2:45 left. Angola refused to fade away, as a Morais tripled sparked an 8-0 run. An and-1 by Yanick Moreira — off Mejri's final foul — made it a one-point game, 83-82.

Angola appeared poised to take the lead once more as Mourad El Mabrouk was called for a traveling violation in the next trip down, but after a timeout, Morais bobbled a lay-up. They played good defense on Roll in the next possession, but he was able to give the ball to Mohamed Hadidane, who nailed the dagger 3-pointer as the shot clock expired.

A bucket by Valdelicio Joaquim at the buzzer was too little, too late for Angola, which finished the tournament with a 1-4 win-loss slate.

Moreira finished with 21 points and 9 rebounds, while Gerson Domingos had 19 points, and Joaquim tallied 16 for Angola.
