Prior to her death, Lariba, who has been battling leukemia since last year, was admitted to St. Luke's Bonifacio Global City after suffering a relapse.

She completed a 5-day chemotherapy protocol and had her brain and spine MRI last August 23.
Lariba, a multi-titled student-athlete at De La Salle University, participated in the Rio Olympics in 2016.
