MANILA – Rain or Shine’s guard Chris Tiu was named the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week after providing vital help for the undermanned Elasto Painters en route to back-to-back wins in the Governors’ Cup.
Tiu bested teammates Jericho Cruz and Beau Belga, Meralco’s Garvo Lanete, Blackwater playmaker Roi Sumang, GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle and NLEX’s Kevin Alas for the citation.
The former Ateneo de Manila University star unleashed impressive performances off the bench for the transitioning and shorthanded Rain or Shine, averaging 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists in the last two outings.
The Elasto Painters have been adjusting over the week due to the trade of long-time resident gunner Jeff Chan to Phoenix in exchange for Mark Borboran.

Tiu made his presence felt in the game against Kia where he poured in 13 markers, highlighted by three triples, to go along with five boards and eight dishes to lead his team to a 94-86 win.
A week later, Tiu contributed another all-around performance, tallying six points, five rebounds and six assists as Rain or Shine clobbered TNT, 105-73.
