MANILA, Philippines – Following a successful staging of the Reinforced Conference last July, Spikers' Turf organizer Sports Vision will hold its biggest tournament yet starting on August 20.

This, as a total of 24 teams have confirmed their participation in the 2019 Spikers' Turf Open Conference.

Last year, only 10 teams signed up for the tournament. This time around, there will be 10 clubs and 14 school-based teams competing for the crown.

Still leading the way are defending champions Go for Gold-Air Force, along with newly crowned Reinforced Conference title-holders Cignal HD Spikers.

Other competing clubs are: PLDT, Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, IEM, VNS Volleyball Club, Sta. Elena-NU, and Easytrip-Raimol.

UAAP Season 81 runner-up Far Eastern University, along with Ateneo de Manila University, University of Sto. Tomas, Adamson University, and De La Salle University also expressed their commitment to the league.

Meanwhile, NCAA squads will also take part in the tournament with University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta leading the way. Behind them are Emilio Aguinaldo College, Arellano University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Mapua University, and Lyceum of the Philippines University.

Completing the cast are the Philippine National Police, Centro Escolar University, and National College of Business and Arts.

The teams will be divided into four pools of six squads each, competing in a single round-robin. The top two teams per pool will then advance to the quarterfinal stage, with the top-seeded squads gaining a twice-to-beat advantage.

Top-ranked teams from Pool A will face off with teams from Pool C in Group 1, while squads in Pool B will square off against the Pool D teams in Group 2.

The winners from Groups 1 and 2 will then play in a best-of-3 semifinals series, with the winners advancing to the best-of-3 championship series. The losers will figure in a battle for bronze.
