MANILA—Sam Abueva, the wife of Calvin Abueva, made public through social media allegations that she was physically abused by the PBA all-star forward throughout their marriage.

On Instagram Live, which Sam hosted on Saturday under Calvin's account because she does not have one her own, she alleged that she and their kids were abused numerous times.

Later, Calvin used a new Instagram account to reportedly thoroughly refute his wife's allegations.

Sam, who is pregnant, detailed that the latest assault happened earlier this month, about July 8, when Calvin tried to force her to have sex, which resulted in her being hospitalized.

"Nag-spotting ako kasi lasing siya at dinaganan niya ang tiyan ko," she said. "Na-ospital ako noon."

Sam said she feared for her life after Calvin allegedly lashed out at her at that time, saying: "Hindi ko alam kung buhay pa ba kami kung hindi dumating iyong police dito."

Sam said that she decided to speak up only now because the situation is negatively affecting their kids, and she did not want to ruin her husband's reputation.

She explained that Calvin was already known as a rough basketball player, and she tried to make it seem like he was a different person at home for his career.

Sam added that she has video evidence of the times Calvin abused her and their kids, but that she could not upload them online for legal reasons, she was told by her lawyers.

She did post screenshots and said: "Yung mga CCTV na iyon ang pananakit ni Calvin na hindi niyo masisikmura kung paano niya ako saktan at kung paano niya saktan ang mga anak namin."

In the same Live video, she also denied her husband's claims that she committed infidelity, dared Calvin to prove his innocence now, and revealed that she had tried to escape from their home in January 2018 because of death threats.

"Sinasabi ko lang ang side ko para hindi na niya kayo maloko pa," she said.

After her Live revelations, Sam proceeded to answer questions from fans on Instagram Stories, where she said that she wants Calvin jailed.

According to an article by Spin, Calvin, using an Instagram account he created a day ago, denied his wife's allegation and called them lies.

. . Sa lahat ng mga fans ko na nadamay, lalo na sa family ko, at ah . . . nanggigigil ako. Sorry, sorry. Pero, actually, nakakagigil."

He went on to post a series of Live clips of him laughing, asking if it's all right to go to Boracay without your husband, and singing, "Malaya na ako, malaya na ako."

Calvin is currently serving an indefinite suspension from the PBA after his flagrant foul on TNT import Terrence Jones last month.

Prior to that, he had been fined P20,000 for his involvement in a word war with the girlfriend of Blackwater rookie Ray Parks.
