Azkals yield to A-League team Perth Glory

The Philippine Azkals bowed to Australian team Perth Glory in their international friendly match at the Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur on Tuesday.

The Aussies had it 2-0 against the Philippine squad who played before 4,000 fans at the stadium.

Joe Knowles scored the first goal for the Australian side, while the Azkals tried to equalize.

The Filipinos dropped into a deeper hole when the Aussies struck again.

The tourism officers of Ilocos Sur were pleased with the turnout at the stadium as the tourists from Manila and foreign countries visited the province to watch the game.

Perth Glory is in the country to prepare for the A-League starting this August.

They were held to a scoreless draw by Global FC, but beat the UFL All-Stars, 2-1.

The Azkals, who last competed against Norrth Korea in March, are preparing for the upcoming Suzuki Cup. -- From a report by Ria Galiste, ABS-CBN News
