San Miguel Beer buckled down to work on Friday night, overpowering Alaska to pick up a crucial 119-107 win in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Cuneta Astrodome.

Alex Cabagnot led the way for the Beermen’s much-needed revival especially as they came into the match with a 1-3 record.

Cabagnot had 31 points, including 4 triples to go with 6 assists. Adding more firepower for San Miguel were Charles Rhodes, Marcio Lassiter, June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos.

Rhodes and Lassiter combined for 46 points, while Santos and Fajardo added 15 and 14, respectively.

Original import Chris Daniels was reactivated, but even his presence couldn’t save Alaska from succumbing to its second straight loss.

The Aces fell to 4-4.

“This is a very important game for us, because we don’t want to be left behind at the bottom,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria after the Beermen improved to 2-3.

Against Alaska, San Miguel led by as many as 28 points while bouncing back from its recent loss to Barangay Ginebra.

San Miguel 119 - Cabagnot 31, Rhodes 23, Lassiter 23, Santos 15, Fajardo 14, Standhardinger 6, Nabong 3, Rosser 2, Zamar 2, Pessumal 0, Ross 0, Tubid 0.

Alaska 107 - Banchero 26, Daniels 23, Enciso 18, Teng 11, Ayaay 8, Pascual 6, Manuel 6, Casio 5, Thoss 4, Exciminiano 0, Racal 0, Cruz 0.
