Edward Kelly is lined up for a tough fight and it will take an impeccable strategy to hurdle what’s ahead of him.

He will take on former ONE featherweight champion Narantungalag Jadambaa, a bruising Mongolian fighter with high-level grappling skills and one-punch knockout power.

But these attributes don’t intimidate Kelly and his Team Lakay head coach Mar Sangiao ahead of their bout in ONE Championship bout in Macau on Saturday.

“Mayroon kaming game plan,” said Sangiao.

“Pinapanood namin 'yung mga past na laban niya at hinahanapan namin ng mabuti ni Edward kung saan siya matatalo.”

Although he didn’t give details, Sangiao said Kelly’s speed will be a big part of the strategy.

Although Jadambaa appears to be the stronger fighter, Sangiao said Kelly is “quicker on his feet.”

“Si Jadambaa matigas, matibay at malakas. Ang advantage ni Edward e mas mabilis siya kay Jadambaa,” said the MMA coach. “Hopefully, mag-work out ang game plan para kay Jadambaa.”

There are other factors that could affect the outcome of the fight.

At 42 years old, Jadambaa is 8 years older than the Baguio-based fighter. The rust factor could also play in favor of Kelly as his opponent last fought nearly 2 years ago in November 2016 when he was submitted by Marat Gafurov.

The 34-year-old Kelly, on the other hand, is coming off a 22-second knockout victory over Meas Meau of Cambodia in January.

“Pero hindi na naming masyadong iniisip ang mga iyon,” said Sangiao. “Basta sa amin, mag-stick kami sa game plan.”
