MANILA, Philippines – Jose Rizal University (JRU) has bigger things in mind in Season 92 after sneaking into the Final Four of the NCAA Season 91 men's basketball tournament as the fourth seed.

Season 91 summary: At the start of the NCAA Season 91 tournament, JRU coach Vergel Meneses virtually guaranteed that the Heavy Bombers will make it to the Final Four. For a while, it seemed as though his prediction would fall flat, but his players simply refused to make a liar out of their coach.

The Heavy Bombers had a 6-6 record late in the second round, and were teetering on the edge of elimination but then reeled off six straight wins to end their elimination round and secure a seat in the Final Four.

They bowed to Mapua Institute of Technology in the playoff for the third seed, and wound up facing the defending champions San Beda College in the Final 4. In the semifinals, the Heavy Bombers were unable to keep up with the Red Lions, eventually losing 68-78.

Key losses: Dave Sanchez

Key returnees: Tey Teodoro, Paolo Pontejos, Abdel Poutouochi

Projection: Ahead of Season 91, Meneses was confident of making the Final 4 because of how talented his line-up was. That talented line-up remains virtually intact heading into the Season 92 tournament, with Dave Sanchez being the only key loss.

Tey Teodoro and Paolo Pontejos should be even better this year after showing off their remarkable scoring ability in Season 91, while JRU coach Vergel Meneses is surely hoping that reinforcements Abdulrazak Abdulwahab and Abdel Poutouochi will be more consistent.

With their veteran line-up, Teodoro admits that the Heavy Bombers are looking to make it past the Final 4 this time around.
