GlobalPort's Stanley Pringle fires up a jumper against San Miguel Beer. PBA Media Bureau

MANILA, Philippines – Fil-American guard Stanley Pringle claimed his first PBA Press Corps Player of the Week award of the conference following a scintillating performance in GlobalPort's upset of defending champion San Miguel Beer.

Pringle contributed 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals as the Batang Pier shocked the Beermen, 98-94, last Wednesday.

Fresh from a stint with the Philippine team in the 2018 FIBA 3x3 Basketball World Cup, Pringle came up with eight points in the fourth quarter, grabbed two rebounds, and made the crucial steal that led to Mo Tautuaa's basket in the dying seconds to seal the win.

The victory hiked GlobalPort's record to 4-4 in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

They are currently tied for the fifth and sixth spots with San Miguel Beer, as the conference heads into the final three weeks of the elimination round.

Pringle edged out Meralco's Jared Dillinger and KG Canaleta, Rain or Shine's James Yap and Beau Belga, and Ginebra playmaker LA Tenorio for the weekly award.

GlobalPort will have two big games coming up this week: Phoenix on Wednesday and Columbian Dyip two days later. The results of those match-ups may very well determined their playoff fate in the Commissioner's Cup.
