MANILA — The national governing body for track and field has reopened its doors for Olympic marathon runner Mary Joy Tabal to rejoin the national team for the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur in August.

In a statement released Friday evening, the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) announced that its reinstatement committee has recommended Tabal's return, granted she follows certain conditions.

The PATAFA said it would welcome back Tabal to its roster of athletes if the Cebuana runner promises to train under its own coach, conduct her training either in Baguio or Manila, and "demonstrate respect to fellow athletes, the PATAFA and its officials."

The federation wants Tabal to submit a written note agreeing to the aforementioned terms on or before Wednesday.

The PATAFA said it also wants Tabal to withdraw a complaint letter she sent in February, claiming that she was a victim of discrimination.
