The Philippines national women's team defeated the Netherlands 10-9 in the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup in Mongolia, on Wednesday.

Camille Izabel Clarin made the game-winning bucket at Sukhbaatar Square in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar as time expired to give the Filipinas their second win in 3 games, putting them a victory away from advancing to the next round.

They next play the Czech Republic, their last game in pool play, later in the day.

After Alisa Van Der Plas put the Netherlands ahead 9-8 with a 2-pointer less than a minute to go in the game, Ella Patrice Fajardo evened the score with a free throw after she was followed on the drive.

The Netherlands wasted a number of opportunities to score, including ones that led to a shot-clock violation and a failure to clear the ball.

After winning a jump ball with 11.7 seconds remaining, Clarin had a crack at securing victory for the Philippines with a jumper. She missed, but the ball ended up being tipped on the rebound play back to Clarin, who had a clear shot at the basket for the winner.

It was an upset by the Filipinas, ranked 14th in the tournament and 8 places behind No. 6 the Netherlands.

The taller Netherlands also had an average height of nearly 5-foot-11, while the Filipinas stood just above 5-foot-6.

After the game, the Philippines placed second in Pool C with a 2-1 record. France, with a game in hand, was first place at 2-0.

The top 2 teams in each of the 4 pools march on to the quarterfinals.
