MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) on Monday announced that it has drafted a set for protocols for the possible resumption of the Philippines Football League (PFL), which has since been submitted to the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).

"PFF hopes for the gradual return of football activity, once the quarantine measures have eased," the organization said.

The PFL was set to kick off on April 18, 2020, but it was postponed after the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine amid rising cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The government has begun to ease the lockdown restrictions, however, and Metro Manila was officially placed on general community quarantine starting on Monday.

The PFF's protocols were submitted to GAB for evaluation and endorsement to the government's Inter-Agency Task Force for their evaluation and approval.

The PFF said it intends to "work closely with the various government agencies for the gradual return of football by starting with resumption of the professional league under strict health and safety protocols."

Football has begun to gradually return in other countries, with Germany's Bundesliga resuming last May 16. La Liga in Spain is set to resume on June 11, while the English Premier League will kick off again on June 17. The Serie A in Italy will restart on June 20.

FIFA has already developed a document on medical recommendations and risk assessment, which was distributed to the organization's 211-member associations, six continental confederations, and other stakeholders.
