Celestina Beatrice Luna, a member of the Philippines girls national team, has died, the Philippine Football Federation said on Tuesday.
Luna, part of the squad that finished fourth in the ASEAN Football Federation Under-15 Girls’ Championship 2019 in Thailand, had fallen into a coma prior to her passing, according to a Facebook post by Pinay Futbol community.
She was 16.
"The PFF extends its condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Luna and request the football community to pray for the eternal repose of her soul," the the sport's national governing body, said in its website.
Luna, a Baguio native, scored in her only appearance for the country, a 12-0 win over Timor Leste in the AFF competition last year.
