MANILA, Philippines -- FIBA on Thursday announced that there will be no official FIBA 3x3 competitions before August 2020, as a result of the current situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As a result, some events have been cancelled, including the FIBA 3x3 Under-23 Nations League, the FIBA 3x3 Under-17 Zone Cups, and four World Tour events in Prague, Lausanne, Los Angeles, and Nanjing.

Meanwhile, the two Olympic qualifying tournaments (OQTs) have been moved to 2021, following the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics.

The OQTs were originally scheduled for March 18 to 22 in Bengaluru, India. The Philippines was set to send a star-studded team composed of top-ranked players Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol, and Southeast Asian Games gold medalists CJ Perez and Moala Tautuaa.

FIBA remains committed to bring back 3x3 action, and continues to work actively in the planning and organization of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, Challengers, Women's Series, Zone Cups, and World Cups in the remainder of 2020 as well as in January 2021, if needed.

The World Tour Manila Masters is still scheduled to push through on August 15-16.
