The camp of WBO bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero is still gunning for that triple world title bout against Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue.

He was supposed to take on Inoue, the WBA, IBF and the Ring bantamweight king, this month but the title unification fight was postponed indefinitely because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Top Rank Inc. executive Bob Arum instead offered to set Casimero up against American Joshua Greer.

However, MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons insisted that Casimero can still face Inoue some time in July.

"I've assured him that 'the Monster' (Inoue) is coming. We're preparing for July, we'll be waiting for July. We're waiting for the Monster," said Gibbons in his Facebook post.

"I don't know who Josh Greer is. But we know the Monster!"

Arum previously said that he is putting the Casimero-Inoue fight in the backburner because the fighters are separated by their locations.

Casimero is currently in Las Vegas, while Inoue remains in Japan. Arum said he could not arrange to have the two fighters travel to a single location for the fight to push through because of the pandemic.

“One thing we were considering is having Casimero go over to Japan and do that fight in Japan,” the long-time boxing promoter said in an article on BoxingScene.

“At one point it appeared possible. It’s no longer possible"
