CEBU CITY -- Mark Magsayo of Bohol finished off Issa Nampepeche of Tanzania in the 1st round at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino here on Saturday to keep his career record perfect, as he sets his sights on a world title.

He first floored Nampepeche with a left, then finished the job with a series of left hands that forced referee Tony Pesons to halt the featherweight bout at the 2 minute, 5 second mark.

The 21-year-old fighter from Bohol now has a 16-0 record.

"Nagulat ako noong napatumba ko siya noong una pero relax lang ako pagkatapos, focused ka lang dapat," Magsayo said. "Iyong sunod na tumumba siya, doon na lang ako nakasigurado."

In another 10-rounder, Jeo Santisima needed to go to the scorecards to defeat Indonesia's Master Suro, a bout that ended via unanimous decision in favor of the 20-year-old fighter from Masbate.

Santisima, nearly 17 years younger than Master, launched on occasion a series of punches but generally lacked any activity in the early going.

In the 5th, Santisima's combinations started to wear down Master, who ended up sitting on the ropes near his corner as Santisima poured it on.

Smelling blood, Santisima came out firing in the 6th, punishing Master with a flurry of body blows but he couldn't finish the visitor off.

With Santisima lacking a strong follow through and Master gamely absorbing his opponent's hits, the rest of the rounds were uneventful.

All judges scored the bout 100-89.
