MANILA, Philippines -- PBA legend Nelson Asaytono is now in recovery after suffering a heart attack last week, the league confirmed.

Asaytono, who played 17 seasons in the PBA, suffered a heart attack and was confined in the intensive care unit of a hospital in General Trias City, Cavite. The league website reported that he was discharged on Saturday.

A seven-time PBA champion, Asaytono was the second overall pick in the 1989 PBA Rookie Draft and went on to become a 10-time All-Star and a two-time Best Player of the Conference during his career. He retired in 2006.
