UAAP: Gayoso nets hat-trick as Ateneo routs Adamson in men's football

MANILA, Philippines – Jarvey Gayoso became the league's top goal-scorer as Ateneo de Manila University overwhelmed the Adamson University, 7-1, in the UAAP Season 81 men's football tournament on Sunday at the Far Eastern University (FEU)-Diliman pitch.

Gayoso produced a hat-trick to raise his total goals to seven, leap-frogging teammate Rupert Baña who has six goals to his name.

Jeremiah️ Rocha, Julian️ Roxas, Mark️ Nacional and substitute Jabez Setters were also on target for the Blue Eagles, who now have 16 points.

With the result, Ateneo is now at the top of the table, as University of Santo Tomas (UST) dealt FEU its second straight loss, 1-0.

Alijreh Fuchigami's second-half header over goalkeeper Dave Parac was enough for the Growling Tigers to moved up to third place.

FEU has 15 points for second place, while UST has 14.

Meanwhile, defending champion University of the Philippines joined De La Salle University in fourth place with 13 points, after a 2-0 win.

Karl Bugayong put the Fighting Maroons just seven minutes after the opening whistle, before King Miyagi double his team's lead with a 51st minute strike.

The Falcons stayed at the near bottom of the table with eight points.
