A hard-fought 17-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-21 victory over traditional rivals Far Eastern University (FEU) gave the Tigresses a share of the third spot in the league standings with their 7-4 win-loss record, and put them one step closer to a first semis appearance in five years.

At 7-4, the Tigresses are tied with National University, though the Lady Bulldogs can take solo third place should they defeat University of the Philippines (6-5) on Sunday. UST did put some separation between themselves and FEU (5-6).

However, Reyes says the UST volleybelles cannot feel too comfortable, as they still have three games to go – one of which is against defending champion De La Salle University.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles and the De La Salle Lady Spikers, both with 9-2 win-loss records, are firmly entrenched in the top two spots, which carries with them a twice-to-beat edge in the Final 4.

The Tigresses have not made the Final 4 since Season 74, when a Maika Ortiz-led team earned the third seed but lost to the second-seeded Ateneo de Manila University in the stepladder semifinals.

UST returns to action on Wednesday against La Salle, before wrapping up their elimination round schedule against UP on April 2, and NU on April 8.
