MANILA, Philippines -- Ceres-Negros and Kaya's campaigns in the ongoing AFC Cup have been put on hold, after the Asian Football Confederation decided to postpone all competitions in March and April until further notice.

This, in light of the current global restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) made the announcement on Thursday.

FIFA and AFC have earlier postponed the joint FIFA/Asian Cup qualification matches scheduled for March and June. After taking in consideration the health and safety of the Asian football community, and following requests from clubs competing in the AFC Cup, the federation also decided to postpone the group stage matches.

Among the matches postponed are Ceres-Negros' April 14 tie against Bali United of Indonesia, and its April 29 match against Phan Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC of Cambodia.

Also postponed are Kaya FC's matches against PSM Makassar of Indonesia on April 15, and Shan United FC of Myanmar on April 28.

Ceres currently tops Group G with 7 points on two wins and one draw, while Kaya FC is second in Group H with five points on one win and two draws.

Their matches were scheduled to be played at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

However, the entirety of Luzon is under enhanced community quarantine, which prohibits mass gatherings -- including sporting events.

"PFF continues to urge the general public, all football stakeholders, and fans to take all necessary health and safety precautions in combating the spread of COVID-19," the organization said.

As of Wednesday, there were 202 recorded cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, with 17 fatalities.
