MANILA -- FIBA announced on Wednesday that the 3x3 Olympic qualification tournament (OQT), originally scheduled for March 18 to 22 in Begaluru, India, has been postponed.

This is due to the ongoing developments of the novel coronavirus, which has impacted several sports events worldwide.

In a statement, FIBA said that it is "now working in close collaboration with the International Olympic Committee, on the best solution possible in the circumstances."

The FIBA 3x3 OQT "needs to take place before the FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifier Tournament scheduled to be played in Budapest, Hungary, from April 24 to 26, 2020."

The Philippines was grouped in Pool C along with Slovenia, France, Qatar, and Dominican Republic. Playing for Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 are Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, Mo Tautaa, and CJ Perez.

The OQT will grant three tickets to the Tokyo Olympics.

Aside from the OQT, also rescheduled is the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup. It was originally set for May 13 to 17, and will now be held on September 9 to 13.

The FIBA 3x3 U17 Asia Cup in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, from June 4 to 7, 2020, has been rescheduled to October 8 to 11, 2020.

The FIBA Asia Under-16 Championships, scheduled for April 5 to 12 in Beirut, Lebanon, has been cancelled. The FIBA Women's Asian Under-16 Championship, set for April 5 to 10 in Canberra, Australia, has also been cancelled.

Moreover, the start of the Basketball Africa League has been postponed as well.
