MANILA, Philippines -- Just like they did in the 5-on-5 tournament, Ateneo de Manila University and National University (NU) ruled their respective divisions in the UAAP Season 81 3x3 competition.

The Lady Bulldogs went 9-0 in the two-day event held at the Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig City, beating Adamson University with a scoreline of 21-3 in the finals.

This was NU's second consecutive women's 3x3 crown.

Meanwhile, the Ateneo Blue Eagles also went unbeaten in the men's division, winning all 8 of their games for their first ever 3x3 championship.

The team, composed of Ange Kouame, Thirdy Ravena, Matt Nieto, and Matthew Daves defeated University of Santo Tomas in the final, 19-13, to secure the crown.

Kouame, the Season 81 Rookie of the Year, was dominant in the gold medal game as he put up 11 points along with 8 rebounds.

"Hopefully, maging official sport na ito sa UAAP next year," said Ravena after the tournament.

3x3 has been a demonstration sport for the past two years.
