Check out how Filipina fighter Denice Zamboanga earned herself a chance to challenge ONE women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee.

Zamboanga upset former title contender Mei Yamaguchi of Japan in ONE: King of the Jungle in Singapore on Friday night.

She bruised the Japanese fighter black and blue en route to a unanimous decision win.

This earned her the right to face reigning champion Angela Lee.

Former ONE featherweight champion Honorio Banario also came out victorious Friday night after edging Thailand’s Shannon Wiratchai in a close fight.

Wiratchai used his striking prowess by testing Banario’s chin. But Banario used skillful boxing and a relentless takedown game that allowed him to take the top position for the majority of the contest.

In the end, two of the three judges saw the bout in favor of Banario.

New Zealand-based Filipino Mark Fairtex Abelardo was not as lucky as he bowed to Troy Worthen of the US.

Worthen overwhelmed Abelardo on the mat for a unanimous decision victory.
