MANILA -- For the third time in a row, De La Salle University scored a straight sets win in the 79th Season of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

Still, the University of the East (UE) made them work for it.

The Lady Spikers got the better of the Lady Warriors in a tight first set before Kianna Dy and Tin Tiamzon took over in a dominant second and third sets in a clean sweep, 25-18, 25-14, 25-16, on Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Dy and Tiamzon scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the defending champions to their third consecutive victory and fifth overall in six games.

That emphatic winning streak comes after La Salle dropped its first game in the tournament. Coach Ramil De Jesus said his girls have learned so much from that loss as he shared, “Siguro mas gusto na nilang manalo kasi mahirap talaga 'yung galing ka sa talo.”

He then continued, talking about the fact that they have won all of their last nine sets, “Mahirap din kasing magbigay ng kumpyansa sa kalaban.”
