Irish Valenzuela signed up with CCN Superteam for this year's Ronda Pilipinas on March 3-18, with hopes of reclaiming the title he last won five years ago.

Valenzuela, the 30-year-old 2013 Ronda king, said he has worked hard in the last five months to get back into competition shape after missing the last three editions of the annual event considered the country’s biggest cycling race.

“I’m just focused on winning the Ronda again,” said Valenzuela, who booked his spot in the main race via the first of two qualifying events in Tarlac City last November.

Valenzuela will be joining forces with grizzled veteran Warren Davadilla, a two-time winner in the fabled Marlboro Tour; and Julius Mark Bonzo, whose father Romeo and uncle Modesto were former Tour champions that should make CCN a team to watch out for.

A cool P1 million will be at stake in this 12-stage race that will be jumpstarted by the 40-kilometer Vigan criterium Stage One on March 3 and the 155.4-km Vigan-Pagudpud Stage Two the next day.
