MANILA, Philippines – Ceres-Negros midfielder Stephan Schrock will receive the Mr. Football award during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Annual Awards Night on March 6 at the Centennial Hall at the Manila Hotel.

This marks the second time that the Filipino-German footballer will receive the honor, after also winning it in 2013.

The veteran was the rock of the Philippine national football team, having served as the captain of the Under-22 team in the 30th Southeast Asian Games that came close to reaching the knockout stages of the competition.

Schrock was also named by the ASEAN Football Federation as a recipient of the AFF Best XI award during the AFF Awards in Hanoi, Vietnam.

On the domestic front, Schrock led Ceres-Negros to a third successive Philippines Football League title, and steered the team to the ASEAN Zonal semifinals of the AFC Cup.

Along with goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, Schrock also spearheaded the Philippines Azkals' campaign in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup joint qualifiers.

Schrock joins Ms. and Mr. Basketball Jack Animam and Thirdy Ravena, Ms. and Mr. Volleyball Sisi Rondina and Bryan Bagunas, and Coach of the Year Pat Aquino as among those to be honored with special awards by the PSA.

Team Philippines will be conferred with the Athlete of the Year award after ruling the SEA Games.
