An undermanned San Miguel Alab Pilipinas succumbed to an 88-83 defeat to Hong Kong Eastern Basketball team in the ASEAN Basketball League at Southorn Stadium, Wan Chai, Hong Kong on Wednesday.

Without Puerto Rican giant PJ Ramos, Alab lacked the force to stop Hong Kong Eastern bannered by Michael Holyfield.

Alab had to climb out of a 14-point deficit, using a 15-0 run to wipe out Hong Kongs’ lead.

The Pinoys eventually seized a 77-71 lead in the final quarter, but Hong Kong giant Sam Deguara orchestrated an 11-0 rally and swung back the advantage to Hong Kong, 82-77.

Hong Kong held on the lead until the final buzzer.

Ray Parks Jr.’s 29-point and 5-rebound performance went to naught as Alab saw its 7 game streak snapped.

Renaldo Balkman added 14 points and 12 boards.

Ramos missed the game due to food poisoning. In his absence, Deguara scored 18 points and brought down 30 rebounds. Holyfield top-scored Hong Kong with 1 points and 20 rebounds.
