The Bataan Risers squad that will participate in the inaugural Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 basketball league is essentially a UAAP all-star team.
Listed in the Risers’ squad are: Ateneo's Anton Asistio, Adamson's Sean Manganti, University of the East's Alvin Pasaol, and La Salle's Leonard “Santi” Santillan.
“I played against these guys in college and having them now as teammates is a cool thing. There’s some familiarity of what we can all do having played each other so it will be interesting to see how we mesh together,” Manganti said.
Also named to the team is Bataan native and former AMA Computer College player Chito Jaime.
The Risers will be coached by former FEU Tamaraw and PBA player, Jonas Villanueva, who is also listed as a reserve player.
Pasaol, who led the UAAP Season 81 in scoring with 24.4 points per game, was named to the Mythical Team while Manganti was the tournament Most Improved Player Award.
Asistio is coming off back-to-back UAAP championships, while Santillan posted 11.4 points and 8.4 rebounds in his second and last season with the Green Archers.
Jaime played for eight years in the PBA.
The Chooks to Go Pilipinas 3x3 basketball tournament is designed to help the country accumulate points to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The league features 12 teams from both the D-League and the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
The six-leg, round-robin format of the first conference will all be played at SM malls, with each leg having a champion.
For the sixth and final leg, teams will be ranked based on their accumulated points, with the top four automatically seeded into a knockout tournament where the champion will take home P1 million.
