Olympic table tennis player Ian Lariba, diagnosed with leukemia last year, returned to hospital following episodes of headache and vomiting, a message by Lariba relayed through a La Salle Facebook page said on Thursday.

She had been released from St. Luke's hospital on October 23 after undergoing a stem-cell transplant that began some 2 weeks prior.

But she said in a message shared by La Salle's sports development office that she was admitted to hospital again.

"Workup revealed that my leukemia recurred and has spread to my brain and spinal cord. I also started having blurring of vision and weakness on the left side of my body," she wrote.

"I am currently undergoing chemotherapy and will need multiple laboratory examinations and blood transfusion."

Lariba, a multi-titled student-athlete at La Salle, participated in the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Those interested to provide financial help may send it through Lariba's BDO savings account at Vito Cruz-Taft branch, 0045-8045-9965, under Ian N. Lariba.
