Pacquiao-Broner PPV sales hit 400,000, earn $30 million 1

Pay-per-view sales of the Manny Pacquiao-Adrien Broner fight in Las Vegas over the weekend drew 400,000, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.

Veteran boxing writer Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports said this is a huge success, considering Pacquiao’s last US pay-per-view fight in 2016 against Jessie Vargas sold around 300,000.

The fight is expected to earn around $30 million from pay-per-view alone, which was priced at $74 per buy. Experts predicted the fight to sell at 350,000.

The Pacman trails behind Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the highest selling pay-per-view fighter. The 2016 “Fight of the Century” of Pacquiao and Mayweather took in 4.6 million sales that generated $600 million.

Iole added that Pacquiao was guaranteed to earn $10 million from the fight alone and is set to make more from his share of the pay-per-view sales.

He said this proof of Pacquiao’s legit stardom and staying power in the US sports scene could bode well for a rematch against Mayweather.
