MANILA, Philippines – San Beda College recovered from a slow start to eventually dominate Lyceum of the Philippines University and stay undefeated in the NCAA Season 93 women's volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

An error-prone start by San Beda allowed Lyceum to build a 2-0 lead, but the Lady Red Spikers cleaned up their act in time to hack out a 22-25, 19-25, 25-11, 25-17, 15-7 victory at the San Juan venue.

It is their second straight five-set win, having slipped past Colegio de San Juan de Letran in come-from-behind fashion last Monday. The Lady Red Spikers improved to 6-0, joining defending champion Arellano University at the top of the league standings.

The two squads will meet in a battle of unbeaten teams on Friday, in what may just be a preview of the NCAA finals.

"Pangit talaga ang start namin, ang mga bata hindi makagalaw," said San Beda coach Nemesio Gavino. "Parang may dinadala pero pasalamat pa rin ako kasi sa third set nakabawi."

Cesca Racraquin was simply dominant, tallying 26 points on 20 attacks and six aces – one more than the entire Lyceum team. Nieza Viray added 13 points of her own.

San Beda had a massive 54-37 edge when it came to attacks, and pounded Lyceum's spotty reception for 20 aces.

However, the Lady Red Spikers also gave away 40 free points due to their own unforced errors.

Monica Sevilla had 13 points to lead Lyceum.

San Beda's victory assured them of at least a playoff for a spot in the Final 4.
