Fans should not be disappointed by Manny Pacquiao's failure to knock out Adrien Broner.

According to referee-boxing analyst Danrex Tapdasan, Broner did what most of Pacquiao's former opponents do after getting hit by the Filipino champion: survive.

"If you will watch the last 20 fights of Manny Pacquiao, a majority of the opponents are either knocked out or tried to survive," Tapdasan said on radyo DZMM after Pacquiao retained his world welterweight title via a lopsided decision.

"It happened to Shane Mosley, it happened to Joshua Clottey, to Jessie Vargas. At some point to Floyd Mayweather Jr. but Floyd was better than Broner by far."

For his part, veteran boxing commentator Ed Tolentino said Pacquiao, who was the busier fighter between the two, got close to knocking Broner down in the seventh and the ninth rounds.

He hurt Broner with a well-timed left while the American was trying to duck, forcing Broner to clinch until he recovered.

Two rounds later, Pacquiao caught Broner with a vicious left to the chin that forced the latter to step backwards to regain his balance.

Broner became careful from then on.

It was a disappointing performance by Broner, Tolentino said.

"'Isa ito sa mga worst fights ni Adrien Broner. Kahit kay Marcos Maidana, kay Mikey Garcia, lumaban ang Adrien Broner. Dito wala e. He's going to be tough to sell in his succeeding fights," said the veteran boxing commentator.

"Disappointing talaga ang ginawa ni Adrien Broner . . . Kinumpirma lamang niya ang mga kritisismo ng mga boxing experts na pagdating sa big fights you will melt like an ice cream left in the desert."
