Pumaren coached University of the East from 2014 to 2017. He failed to lead the Red Warriors to the Final 4 during his stint, compiling a 21-35 record. From 2018 to 2019, he handled the basketball program of Centro Escolar University.

Coaches Gian Nazario and Jermaine Byrd, who called the shots for La Salle last year, will stay on as an assistant coach and skills coach, respectively.
