MANILA, Philippines – After ending 2018 on the highest of notes, star spiker Sisi Rondina is hoping that she can bring the winning mojo from Petron to University of Santo Tomas (UST).

Rondina, a crowd favorite wherever she plays, was a big part of the Blaze Spikers' run to the crown in the 2018 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference. Serving as Shaq delos Santos' weapon off the bench, Rondina provided a burst of energy and scoring for the Blaze Spikers' in their finals series against the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.

"Lahat ng binibigay ni coach, advice, walang problema sa akin. As long as nakakatulong ako sa team," Rondina said after Petron's straight-sets triumph over F2 Logistics that clinched for them the All-Filipino crown.

With another successful club stint in her back pocket, Rondina now turns her full focus on the collegiate season – her last UAAP campaign with the UST Golden Tigresses.

Rondina is the undisputed leader of a UST team that has already shown tremendous promise in the preseason, and will be their primary scoring option even with the presence of Milena Alessandrini and Eya Laure.

She hopes that all the lessons she has learned in Petron will serve her well in UST. Moreover, she hopes to share those same lessons to her younger teammates.

"For me, sana itong natutunan ko sa PSL, sa Petron, mahawa ko 'yung teammates ko," said Rondina.

"Sana, itong pagka-panalong ito, sana may nakita 'yung mga teammates ko," she added. "Kung ano talaga 'yung attitude na gusto, 'yung winning attitude talaga."

"Sana, mahawa ko sila, and sana mag-cooperate sila for my last season."

Rondina knows it will take time for her to mesh once more with her UST teammates. The veteran spiker did not suit up for the school when they competed in the PSL Collegiate Grand Slam, though she regularly watched their games.

The Golden Tigresses – anchored mostly by their young guns including Laure and Alessandrini – advanced to the gold medal match of the Collegiate Grand Slam, where they lost to University of the Philippines.

Rondina sees plenty of promise in her younger teammates but said she will need to "bond" with them ahead of the season.

"Sana, these babies, mag-cooperate sa akin as a senior," she said.

"And sana, 'yung mga tinuro nila coach, lahat kahit ako mag-turo, sana ma-apply nila. And ayun, sana mag-cooperate sila sa mga goals namin, and sana mabigyan nila ako ng magandang exit," she added.

"Hopefully, 'yun nga tatrabahuhin namin 'yun. Gagawin ko lahat, mapaayos lang 'yung team namin sa UST."

The Tigresses missed out on the Final 4 last year, going 4-10 despite Rondina's incredible scoring displays. UST is tipped to be a contender this year, however, thanks to the much-improved Alessandrini and the addition of talented rookies, including Laure.

It also remains to be seen if the Tigresses will feature former UAAP co-Rookie of the Year EJ Laure in their Season 81 line-up, as the spiker has reportedly yet to show up to UST practice.
