James Yap is not going anywhere and he’s got a 3-year contract with Rain or Shine to prove it.

Rain or Shine team co-owner Raymond Yu said the 2-time PBA Most Valuable Player asked him last week about rumors of Yap being placed in the trading block.

“Boss, are you trading me?” Yu quoted Yap as saying in Spin.ph.

Yu admitted he was surprised by Yap’s question.

“Hindi naman kasi ako active sa social media so I was not really aware of it,” said the Rain or Shine executive. “Yun pala may mga kumakalat nang ganun."

“Kung meron mang trade na mangyayari, di ba dapat kami ni Terry (Que) ang makakaalam? As I’ve said, hindi ko nga alam na may mga ganung kuwento pala.”

Last December, rumor has it that Yap was reportedly being traded to another team.

“Tingin ko lang nagsimula yan when Terrence (Romeo) was traded to San Miguel,” he said. That was the time Yap was negotiating for a new contract with Rain or Shine.

Yap, who was transferred to Rain or Shine two years ago in a trade with Magnolia for Paul Lee, was asking for 3-year contract.

“He asked that he be given a three-year contract kasi baka last contract na daw niya,” said Yu, who relented to Yap’s request.
