A pilot was injured when a Cessna 152 plane overshot the runway in Plaridel Airport in Bulacan province on Saturday afternoon.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), in a statement, saod the Cessna, which was carrying a pilot and a student pilot, overshot at runway 35 around 1:50 p.m.

According to an initial report from the Plaridel Tower, the aircraft executed a bumpy landing on runway 17 and continued without decelerating until it reached runway 35. 

The plane attempted to initiate a missed approach but was unable to do so due to insufficient airspeed. 

Eventually, it went past the end of runway 35 and collided with both the perimeter fence and a nearby residential property.

The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting vehicle (ARFF) Plaridel immediately responded and provided immediate assistance to the pilots on board. 

One of the pilots sustained minor injuries while the other was unharmed.

The CAAP's Licensing and Certification Department (LCD) and Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) will conduct separate probes on the incident.
