Two districts of Quezon province including Lucena City have been placed under a state of calamity following the devastation brought by Typhoon Aghon.

The Lucena City public information office first declared a state of calamity on Monday, based on a city council resolution. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council later recommended placing the 2 districts of Quezon province under a state of calamity. 



Placed under a state of calamity are the following areas:

1st District: Tayabas City, Pagbilao, Lucban, Sampaloc, Mauban, Real, Infanta, General Dakar, Polillo, Panukulan, Burdeos, Patnanungan, Jomalig

2nd District: Lucena City, Candelaria, Dolores, San Antonio, Sariaya, Tiaong

Authorities said several municipalities bore the brunt of the typhoon after Aghon shifted track and made its ninth landfall in Patnanungan.

As of Monday, May 27, the Quezon PDRRMO has listed 3,638 families or over 15,000 individuals affected by Aghon.

The typhoon destroyed 27 houses and partially damaged another 400 homes in 156 affected barangays.
