Top officials of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) are in Cebu Friday for a fellowship and to celebrate the party’s 42nd year.

The party’s chairman and former President Rodrigo Duterte along with Senator Bong Go joined the occasion.

Those who attended the event include party vice chairman former Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, party president Palawan 2nd District Representative Jose Chaves Alvarez, and Senators Robin Padilla, Francis Tolentino, and Ronald Dela Rosa.

In a press conference, Alvarez said that the intention of the gathering is purely to conduct a council meeting and meet with other members.

“There are things that we will adopt in this meeting. We are doing it here in Cebu because of the presence of party stalwart, no less than Mayor Mike Rama of Cebu City,” said Alvarez.

He also clarified that the gathering is not a venue for them to discuss national issues.

“We should not associate this meeting from a background that we are in a combative mood, we are not. We will participate in a council meeting,” Alvarez said.

He also admitted that they are seeking support of their members towards senators Tolentino, Go and Dela Rosa who will bid for reelection in 2025.

Meanwhile, Rama said that he wants to make a statement that PDP-Laban is “still around” despite changes in the current administration.
