He first led an aerial inspection before leading the distribution of food packs and a situational briefing with the mayors of Catanduanes towns.

Mayors got to raise to the president both the pressing and long-term needs of the Catanduanes residents post-Pepito.

"Ang pinakamalaking naging problema, of course yung agricultural damage kasi itong Catanduanes, center ito ng production ng Abaca eh," Marcos told reporters.

Marcos also extended financial assistance to those with damaged houses, and jobs for those who lost livelihood.

"In the immediate, ang kailangan is reconstruction materials, maghahanda kami ng mga construction materials, pero meron din tayong cash assistance sa mga households na may partially damaged houses at fully damaged houses," he added.

(In the immediate, what we need are construction materials. We will give them that, but we have also financial assistance for those with damaged houses.)

Most of the damaged houses are in the Northeastern part of the province, particularly in Pandan, Panganiban, and Bagamanoc.

The Philippines was struck by multiple typhoons this month, with the trio of Nika, Ofel and Pepito leaving some P478-million in damages, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The weather disasters affected some 1.8 million people, around 453,000 of whom fled to evacuation centers.

The NDRRMC has yet to confirm any fatality from the three typhoons, but said at least 25 people were injured. Local officials have reported that Pepito killed at least 8 people.

The information officer of the Catanduanes disaster office of Catanduanes said on Monday that the province was "heavily damaged" due to Pepito, stressing that they are in need of urgent aid.

"Kung iko-compare po namin ito sa ibang bagyong naramdaman din namin before, the damage is almost the same as super typhoon Rolly. Ang difference lang po yung, Rolly sa southern part… Ngayon naman po sa Pepito, sa taas naman," said Camille Gianan.

"We are calling for help. Need namin ng in kind donations: food packs, hygiene kits, drinking water," she added. "Kailangan namin ng augmentation sa power restoration from other coops. Nananawagan po kami sa mga telcos to restore their signal in the province, kung puwede po kaming makakuha ng free call and text booths po."
